Firstly, thank you for visiting our site, and welcome to Your ACT.
I have been fortunate enough to be involved working with my passion for the last 15 years or so. I love the music and entertainment business. This is what I know best and I know its where I belong, and I have learned a great deal through the years.
I started around 15 years ago singing in pubs/clubs in the North-East of England with my brother Carl as a duo. We then set a band up around us called The Answer and moved concentrated on our own material while performing at various showcases and talent shows around the UK. A new manager saw us move to London to try to break into the business the hard way. It was then we changed our name to Journey South. After two more years the band members dispersed. Myself and my brother Carl were back as a duo again. We felt after another year that it was time to move back home and focus on other avenues.
I then set up my first entertainment agency - J.S Entertainments. The business went from strength to strength, and before long I was working full time doing what I love. As for Journey South, we were performing back on the pub circuit, and we would also do many weddings each year, whilst still writing our original material, and hoping we would get another break.
After only two years we applied for ITV's The X Factor and with so many disappointments in the past, we prepared ourselves for possible rejection. Never the less we went to the audition with an open mind and determined that we would make the live shows. We came third out of 75,000 applicants. After the show we signed a record deal with Simon Cowell's label (Syco). Three months later our album entered the charts at number one. It sold a massive 216,000 copies in its first week, making it the biggest debut and second biggest selling album of 2006, and going on to sell over 600,000 copies (double platinum).
Clearly we had achieved something that we had dreamed of for all those years. All our efforts and belief and determination had finally paid off and it was incredible. The success didn't stop there, and we went on to tour the U.K performing to over 100,000 people over 43 dates - all sold out. We moved on from Syco and set up our own record label - ANCA. A lot of hard work later, and we had achieved a top 40 second album, two international number ones, and a successful self promoted second tour.
Journey South is still my passion, and we are still touring the UK, Europe and South Africa where we enjoyed two number one singles in 2009. However it has always been my ambition to start a new entertainment agency since my early years with J.S. Entertainments, and importantly to make use of all my experience as both an artist and as an agent.
As an artist I have worked for hundreds of clients throughout the UK performing at all kinds of events, and have worked for many entertainment agents. My personal experience has highlighted certain issues and has led me to wanting to start my own entertainment agency to focus on a company that is reliable and eradicates certain issues, through better COMMUNICATION and a great service.
Through all my success, experience, my highs and my lows, I intend to provide an entertainment service providing quality professional artists to clients all over the world. A service that can be relied upon and well respected from both our clients and our artists.
Best Wishes
Andy Pemberton - Managing Director
